Prof. Dr. Lukas Radbruch

My research area is pain management and palliative care. This includes pain and symptom assessment, opioid treatment, treatment of fatigue and cachexia, ethical issues such as wish for hastened death or palliative sedation. Research methodology includes both qualitative and quantitative methods, ranging from qualitative interviews, grounded theory,consensus methods, rapid appraisal to surveys and controlled clinical trials. The research group includes medical and nursing as well as sociology, philosophical and psychological expertise.
